I’m not sure where Wendy, John and Peter Pan are, but Michael’s been found. If a friend who is most decidedly not part of the Costco cohort could be convinced to see what it was all about, I figured I could brave Michael’s. I’ve been to Michael’s before, but I’m not a regular. I’m not even an occasional. I’m an almost never.
When you’re looking for unicorn fabric and neon pink ephemera, Michael’s is your place. Supplies for a unicorn and rainbow skirt with pink flower embellisments and buttons shaped like rainbows had been requested and I was on a quest to satisfy my customer. It’s not precisely per specifications, but when you’re dealing with unicorns and rainbows, tolerances* are generous.
My visit to Almost Neverland reminded me that we should almost never use the word, never without a modifier like almost. If you pay attention, you’ll hear someone say “I never do so and so.” as they launch into a story about how that’s exactly what they did. The same is true for always.
Seldom and usually. Remember them. And remember those generous tolerances. I think I’ve got function covered; aesthetics will be measured in the eyes of the wearer.
* Tolerance: A defined range of measurements or other physical traits that enable the product to function properly and/or look aesthetically pleasing.
